Soccer
Soccer is the most popular sport globally, not only in terms of audience, but also for betting purposes. During your research on the soccer betting market, a question might arise:
Do I need to be a soccer specialist to make money from betting?
Not necessarily.
While we’re not saying that knowledge isn’t essential, you can still be successful with little information about soccer, as long as you have a clear strategy and understand how the math works.
Ideally, you want to improve your soccer expertise gradually. Your skill level is directly correlated to your success rate.
Just as the saying goes: The more you learn, the more you earn.
Here are the top soccer events you can bet on in 2021:
- May 22: Canadian Premier League Start
The Canadian Premier League (CPL) is the primary professional soccer league of Canada. The association appeared in 2017, but the teams played the first season in 2019. The CPL’s current focus is improving the value and national talent of soccer in Canada.
Eight soccer clubs compete in the CPL, including Atletico Ottawa, Cavalry FC, FC Edmonton, Forge FC, HFX Wanderers FC, Pacific FC, Valour FC and York United FC. The league initially had a split season format similar to the soccer leagues in Latin America. The winners of the two-season would compete in the CPL Finals. Last season was won by Forge FC, after defeating the Wanderers FC.
Since the eighth club’s addition in 2020, the league changed their format to a single season with expanded playoffs. The CPL regular season will run from April to October, with each team playing 28 matches (14 at home and 14 away). The 2021 edition will start on May 22, and the end date has not yet been announced due to current safety regulations.
Since the CPL is still an emerging betting market, we recommend adding it to your watch list. The historical data available right now is scarce. Still, once you get used to the teams and player performances, you will make accurate predictions.
FIFA QUALIFIERS Canada
The 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers is a series of tournaments organized by the six FIFA confederations. The Qualifiers will decide 31 of the 32 teams participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Qatar automatically qualifying as hosts.

While the first round in the Qualifiers carries low risk, it’s still worth keeping your eye on their performance so that you can predict future trends.
FIFA announced the following events for Canada World Cup Qualifiers:
- June 5: Aruba vs Canada
- June 8: Canada vs Suriname
Euro 2020 – June 11- July 11

Still, before you start placing bets on the NBA or the NCAA, you should be comfortable with all the basketball rules. Having deep knowledge about the sport is beneficial when you’re making predictions.
If you’re entirely new to basketball betting, spend some time learning about all the different types of bets that you can place. The main basketball bets are:
- Point spread;
- Point totals;

- Parlays.
Once you’re familiar with these terms, you will have to keep improving your skills and continually research for the best opportunities. Ideally, you want to start betting smaller sums and keeping track of your profit and losses. With the experience added to your toolbox, the
Remember that there are no “proven methods” for winning at basketball betting.
The only secret is to develop your analytical skills by learning how to make predictions based on advanced statistics and remember that scheduling plays a crucial role in team performance.
That’s because there are 82 games condensed in the NBA season, meaning that the players will constantly be travelling. The more you know about scheduling, home/road advantages and travel distance, the better you can intuit the players’ stamina and performance.
We have carefully selected the most important events for basketball betting in 2021.
Check it out:
National Collegiate Athletic Association
Collegiate basketball represents one of the most exciting formats because the NCAA tournaments are the main launching points for many superstar athletes. During the conference, the teams are ranked through their NCAA performance and the tournament, which leads to the qualification to the NCAA championship.
These are the main events that you can bet on during the 2021 NCAA conference
- March 16 – April 5: NCAA Division Men’s Tournament
- March 19 – April 4: NCAA Division Women’s Tournament
FIBA
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is the governing body for international basketball. The federation is responsible for defining the rules of basketball, choosing the required equipment and facilities, regulating player transfers across countries, and organizing international competitions.
FIBA is the organizer of a wide range of events, including the World Olympic Qualifiers, the Summer Olympics Tournament and the FIBA Basketball World Cup (held every four years). In addition to these significant events, FIBA is also responsible for other championships you can wager on like:
- August 16-28: FIBA Asia Cup
- August24-29: Afro Basket 2021
Please note: You can visit the official FIBA website for a full breakdown of all the events. Be advised that not all of them will be eligible for betting.
NBA
The National Basketball Association(NBA) is the North American basketball league, composed of 30 teams (29 from the US and one from Canada). The NBA was founded in 1946, and since then, their regular season runs from October to April. Every team plays 82 games in total, and the playoff tournament was extended into June.
However, due to the current safety regulations, the NBA officially decided to reduce the season to 72 games for each team, and it started later on December 22. The NBA All-Star game was played on March 7, and Team Lebron won by 170-150. The NBA has announced that the playoffs will be played between May 22 and July 22.
- December 22 – May 16: NBA Season
The Canadian government has imposed new cross-border restrictions, forcing the Toronto Raptors to play their 2020-21 games at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Until now, there have been some changes of coaches at the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks. Keep an eye on their performance in the upcoming matches. Their strategy could change and implicitly their value on their betting market.
- May 18-21: Play In tournament
Once the regular season ends, but before the first round of the playoffs, the NBA team with the 7th highest winning ratio from both conferences will host the team with the 8th winning ratio in a Play-In Game(commonly known as the “Seven-Eight Game”). The winner will qualify as the 7th seed.
Additionally, the team with the 9th win percentage from each conference will host the 10th team in the “Nine-Ten Game.” The loser from the Seven-Eight match will host the Nine-Ten winner, and it will decide which team earns the 8th seed for the playoffs.
In case you need a reminder, this is how the conferences are divided:
- May 22 – July 22: 2021 NBA Playoffs
The 2021 NBA playoffs will begin in May after the regular season ends. No matter their divisional alignment, the top eight teams from each conference are competing for the league’s championship title.
Seeds are awarded in the order of regular-season record. Teams with higher seeds have more advantages, so the smart thing to do as a bettor is to keep an eye on the order in which the teams qualify for the playoffs.
Why?
For starters, the first seed begins the playoffs against the eighth seed, the second seed against the seventh, the third against the sixth and the fourth against the fifth.
On top of that, the better record team has the home-court advantage, even the First Round. Therefore, the team having the best regular-season performance will get guaranteed home-court advantage during every series.
The playoffs will conclude on June 22, with the NBA Finals – a best of 7 matches between the conferences’ victors.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics have won the most championships, each holding 17 NBA Finals victories. They are followed by the Golden State Warriors and the Chicago Bulls with six titles. Keep an eye on these teams since they’re the most likely to advance to a later stage of the championship.
Tips: Learning the primary metrics in basketball (turnovers, rebounding and 3-point shooting percentages) will help you minimize your risks when betting.
Fun fact: As of 2020, the NBA players are officially the world’s best-paid athletes in terms of
American football
American football is a team sport that resembles a combination between rugby and soccer. The origin of football can be traced back to 1867 when the McGill and Harvard universities organized a best of three series between them. After years of having no exact rules and regulations, American football was finally made an official sport.
In terms of popularity, the sport has quickly surpassed baseball in Canada. The NFL Super Bowl is one of the most significant sporting events in the world. Football involves a lot of strategies. The field has 120 yards and is divided by ten lines. There are two ways to score: touchdown, which is worth 6 points and requires taking the ball to the Endzone (the 10-yard area located at the extremities of the field) and beacon, which is worth 1 point achieved by hitting the ball between the goal post.
Although American Football was invented in the U.S., many Canadians enjoy watching and betting on this sport. That’s mainly because of the simplicity required for making successful wagers.
When it comes to betting on football, there are usually three types of bets available: total points, Moneyline and spread. Most bettors go for NFL betting since it’s the most familiar championship. Still, there are other options that you can choose from, like the Canadian Football League.
Here is our list of football betting opportunities for 2021:
NFL 2021
The National Football League is one of the four main American sports leagues. The NFL was formed in 1920, and The NFL season runs for 18 weeks, from early September to early January. Each team will play 17 games and have a “bye week.”
Betting on the NFL is a game of its own. To win it, you will have to outsmart the bookmaker and the public. As you already know, many amateurs wager on the Superbowl, but the odds for this event aren’t that great. Expert Canadian NFL bettors recommend focusing your strategy on the number (the point spreads) and the Over/Under line.
All the lines will be announced in Las Vegas before each week of the NFL. Now, as a regular bettor, you will have to understand the odds and pair them with a vast knowledge of the game.
This is the official NFL team map, according to their Twitter page:

The winner will be decided in the finals called the Grey Cup, representing one of Canada’s most remarkable annual sports events.
The 2021 CFL is the 67th Canadian professional football season. It will be played over 21 weeks, which means that football bettors will have many viable options for their betting slips. One of the primary advantages of the CFL compared to the NFL is that only nine teams are participating in the tournament.
If you’re planning to bet on the 2021 CFL, you will need way less time to analyze all the statistical data and learn how to predict the games’ outcome. Here are the key dates of the 2021 CFL season that you should add to your betting calendar:

The Toronto Argonauts hold the most Grey Cup championship titles (17), followed by the Edmonton Eskimos with 14 titles and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers that have won 11 times. Have a look at these teams’ statistics before placing your wagers since they have the highest chance of winning the title again.
Please note: Tickets for all the events mentioned above can be purchased on the official CFL website. Due to current safety regulations, the seats are limited. If you’re planning to physically attend any of the CFL matches, make sure you get your ticket in time.
Tips: Wise football bettors always look for the context behind the statistics when evaluating football betting trends.
Fun fact: Since 2009 and 2010, when Montreal Alouettes won two seasons in a row, no team in the Canadian Football League has repeated that achievement. That’s a great starting point in your betting analysis.

Let’s have a look at the main ice hockey events of 2021:

If you’re an ice hockey fan, the ongoing season is an excellent opportunity to make some extra cash from betting. Good luck!

The events will be held at two venues in Riga and the Olympic Sports Centre. 16 teams qualified for the tournament. After the 2020 edition was cancelled, the same teams will be participating, including Canada, Finland, Great Britain and the United States.
With so many essential teams participating, the IIHF Championship will be a memorable clash between the most potent national hockey teams worldwide. Ready for a challenge?
Tips: When you analyze ice hockey betting data, avoid Goals Against Average and Wins. These two metrics don’t represent a goaltender’s actual skill. They are more of a representation of his team.
UFC
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a mixed martial arts organization based in Las Vegas. Right now, the UFC is considered the largest MMA promotion corporation in the world. Their roster contains some of the most notorious fighters globally, including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones, Weili Zhang and Jorge Masvidal.

In his tweet, Dana White has also announced that Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight championship on the card, battling Jorge Masvidal again after their July 2020 clash during the UFC 251 event. In the previous fight, Usman destroyed Masvidal’s explosive offence with a grappling-heavy attack. Until the event happens, you have plenty of time to prepare your wagers.
Tips: There is no such thing as “guaranteed winners” in UFC, so avoid taking advice from betting gurus that claim they are 100% sure that their prediction is accurate.

Below, we will explore the main tennis events of 2021. Check it out:

Here are the dates for this year’s remaining majors:
- French Open – May 23 – June 6
The French Open is a major tennis competition held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris. It is the only major Grand Slam tournament that is played on clay. For this reason, the Roland Garros is widely known as being the most physically demanding tournament in the world.
This year’s edition of the French Open begins on May 23. The quarter-finals will be on June 1st, and the finals between June 5 and June 6. If you’re planning to bet on the Roland Garros, make sure you note down these dates in your calendar. They are great betting opportunities, and futures wagers are already available on some sites. Good luck!

Rugby
Rugby is a contact sport between two teams. They compete against each other intending to score points via different tactics. The players can tackle each other and stop the opponent from scoring or regaining possession. There is always a lot of running and tackling on the rugby field.
The teams can increase their point tally by scoring conversions, drop goals and tries. Tries are the most valuable for scoring the method in rugby, and they are worth 5 points. Conversions are worth 2 points, and drop goals (a.k.a. penalty kicks) will be worth 3 points.
Match wagering is the most popular form of rugby betting. Essentially, you will have to predict which team will win. There are countless other options available, including handicap betting (also known as spread), which assigns a hypothetical advantage or disadvantage to one of the teams.
Compared to other sports, rugby betting is divided into two different codes – Rugby Union and Rugby League. Before you can be successful with your bets, you will have to know the difference between them.
Below, you can find a list of the most relevant rugby events of 2021 and a comparison between the two rugby codes:
Rugby League
Rugby League is a fast-paced version of the sport. Still, the basic principles are similar – teams need to outscore the opponents by scoring tries (worth 4 points), conversions (2 points) and drop goals. Each team has 13 players, and games have two 40-minute halves.
Also, there are no line-outs in Rugby League – teams will contest a scrum if the ball goes out of play.
Let’s have a look at the crucial Rugby League events of 2021:
- 23 Oct – 27 Nov- Rugby League World Cup
The Rugby League World Cup is an international tournament instituted in 1954. Until now, three countries have won the competition – Australia (11 times), Great Britain (3 times) and New Zealand (1 time). You should consider this information when making a betting decision.
What makes betting on the World Cup difficult for beginners is that the event is held every 2 to 8 years, and the formats can be different. Don’t worry; as long as you closely analyze the national teams and compare their statistics, you can still make accurate predictions and minimize your risks.
England hosts the 2021 edition of the Rugby League World Cup. It features 16 teams ( 2 more than the previous editions) and a total of 31 games. The table below contains all the countries that qualified:
Country | Qualification Methods | World Ranking |
---|---|---|
Jamaica | Won Americas League | 20 |
Australia | Automatic | 2 |
Cook Islands | Repechage playoff | 23 |

- Nov 2021 – Jan 2022 – The Ashes
The Ashes series is a best-of-three event between the Australian and the English national rugby league teams. Since it was first introduced in 1908, the Ashes cup has been contested 39 times. Australia has won the series thirteen times in a row.
Based on our analysis, Great Britain has a 48.7% win rate (with 19 wins), and Australia has 51.3% (with 20 wins). This information can be crucial if you’re planning to bet on this event. Make sure you consider other factors like home/away advantage and any recent changes when making your final decision.
Rugby Union
Rugby union is one of the two codes of rugby based on running around the field with the ball in hand. Union is the most common version of rugby, and it’s played between two teams of 15 players each, with an oval ball on a pitch having H-shaped goalposts at both ends. The games last 80 minutes (two 40-minute halves). The “try” is worth 5 points in Rugby Union.
The earliest adopters of the rugby union were England (the country of origin), Scotland, Ireland and Wales. It’s the national sport of 7 countries, including Georgia, Madagascar, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Wales, and Fiji.
The primary difference between the rugby codes is what happens after a “tackle” – the union has rucks or mauls, which are aggressive moves that allow players to pin down the opponent holding the ball.
Additionally, in Rugby Union, there is no time limit for possession. Simultaneously, in Rugby League, the attackers can only be tackled six times before they must turn over the possession.
Here are the main Rugby Union events of 2021:
- September 18 –October 16 Women Rugby World Cup
The 9th edition of the Women’s Rugby World Cup will be held in New Zealand. It is the first edition which will be held in the southern hemisphere. The format has suffered some changes since last time, and the classification matches will be replaced with the quarter-finals.
Canada’s national rugby team has qualified in the first band, so you have an extra reason to watch the tournament. Let’s hope they will come home with a title.
The first two “bands” or groups for the World Cup were automatically selected based on their world ranking. The remaining five qualifying spots were allocated based on their previous playing strength on World Cup:
- Band 1 – the top 3 automatic qualifiers, New Zealand, England and Canada;
- Band 2 – the next 3 automatic qualifiers, France, Australia and United States;
- Band 3 – the 7th automatic qualifier Wales and first teams from Europe and Africa;
- Band 4 – first team in Asia and Oceania, and the Repechage winner.
Recommendation: Rugby is a high-scoring game, so games that end up in a draw are pretty rare. Bookmakers usually price draws at very high odds, somewhere around 40/1. Ideally, you want to avoid making this bet since the tie is not likely to occur.
Baseball
Baseball is a great sport, and millions of die-hard fans are closely following the professional scene or even collecting baseball cards.
But why?
Well, for starters, it is one of the few sports that is exclusively played during the summer sports calendar, starting from late spring to October. During this period, teams have to play as many as seven games a week. Thus, there are hundreds of betting opportunities available.
The great advantage of baseball betting is that every event is measured in terms of the inning and at-bat metrics. Thus, you get access to an extensive data set that you can analyze and make more accurate predictions and calculate your odds once you’ve become familiar with the calculations.
Here is a list of the most essential baseball events of the year:
MLB
Major League Baseball (MLB) is an American professional baseball organization founded in 1903. 30 teams play in the MLB, 15 in the National League and 15 in the American League.
- April 1 – October 3 Major League Baseball season
During the regular season, each team plays 19 games against each of the four divisional opponents. A team
The 2021 edition of the Major League Baseball season will have the regular 162-game format, with a few changes. The Doubleheaders will be played as two seven-inning games, and a runner will be placed on second base at the beginning of every half-inning of a game that goes into extra innings.
Here is the full schedule for the 2021 MLB season:
- April 1: Opening Day
- July 11-13: MLB Draft
- July 13: the 91st All-stars game
During the four-day break from the regular season, the National League and the American League will meet in an “exhibition” game, called the All-stars, which features the best players from both Leagues.
- August 12: MLB at Field of Dreams – White Sox vs Yankees
- August 22: MLB Little League Classic – Angels vs Indians
- October 26: 2021 World Series
The World Series is a great betting opportunity, although it can be quite hard to predict. It represents a best-of-seven-games series played between the winning team of each league.
Tips: Windspeed and direction are crucial in baseball, so look at the weather forecast before you place a bet.
Fun fact: The 2021 MLB season will be the last for Cleveland competing as the Indians after a long fight with controversy regarding their name.
Tokyo Olympics 2021
Date of the Tokyo Olympics: July 23 – August 8
The Tokyo Olympics 2020 event was postponed for a year. Still, it has been officially announced that the opening ceremony will be held on July 23. In addition to the possibility of betting on all the events mentioned above, some online bookmakers even offer odds for “fans attending the Tokyo Olympics,” which is a side bet that can be placed before the event begins.
If you’ve never bet on the Olympics before, don’t worry. The process is similar to regular sports betting. Still, there’s a catch – you can also wager on the number of medals that a particular country wins or guess the country that will win the most gold medals. Ready?
Recommendation: The wide range of Olympic games can be confusing for amateur bettors. Our suggestion is to stick to the sports that you’re already familiar with, study the participants and make your prediction based on the knowledge you’ve accumulated.
Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)
Created in 1974, the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association is the governing body responsible for organizing collegiate-level sports events in Canada. Right now, members of the CCAA compete for national tournaments in the following sports:
- Men’s and Women’s Basketball
- Men’s and Women’s Volleyball
- Men’s and Women’s Soccer
- Golf
- Hockey
- Cross-Country Running
- Badminton
- Curling
Canadians love watching collegiate sports championships, mainly because the CCAA is a launching platform for star athletes. But apart from the high-level competitive opportunities that intercollegiate sports offer, there is also a dedicated market for betting on the CCAA.
Curious about betting on collegiate sports? Check out the list of all the CCAA events 2021 and choose your favourite:
March 3-6: Badminton Championship
March 10-13: Volleyball Men and Women Tournament
March 17-20: Basketball Men and Women Tournament
TBD: Curling CCAA Championship
Darts
Darts is a competitive sport that requires players to throw sharp-pointed missiles (commonly called “darts”) at a round target known as the dartboard. In professional darts, the target is standardized, and the players score points by hitting certain areas of the board. Contrary to popular belief, the point areas on the dartboard don’t follow the principle of points increasing towards the center.
Over the last decade, the demand for darts betting has skyrocketed. Most online bookmakers offer darts as one of their primary sports. Remember that there are two formats in darts tournaments: legs-based or sets-based. Suppose you want to be a successful darts bettor. In that case, you need to know each format’s basic rules and learn how to analyze the historical data regarding the player’s performance.
Ready for a challenge? The list below contains all the upcoming professional darts events in 2021:
- April 5 – TBD: 2021 Premier League Darts
The 17th edition of the Darts Premier League has a C$1.4 million prize pool and is sponsored by Unibet. After being postponed for almost two months, the official start date has been set to April 5. The tournament format will revert to the 2018 version, with a permanent list of 10 players, instead of 9 players and a weekly guest.
There are three phases in the Darts Premier League tournament – Elimination phase 1 & 2 and Play-off Night. During the first two phases, six out of ten players will be eliminated. On the Playoff Night, the contest’s top four players will fight in the semi-finals (best of 19). Once the finalist is determined, they will meet in the final, which is first to 11 legs (or best of 21). Are you ready?
- July 17-25: 2021 World Matchplay Race
The Betfred World Matchplay Race is a legs format tournament run by the Professional Darts Corporation. The event will occur at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, and tickets are already available for purchase.
Those who have already purchased tickets for the 2020 edition will receive a refund or a transfer to the equivalent session of 2021. The World Matchplay Race participants are the top 16 players of the Order of Merit, joined by the top 16 players from the Pro Tour Order of Merit.
Prepare your betting slips; it’s going to be a wild tournament!
- November 26-28: 2021 Players Championship Finals
The 14th edition of the Players Championships Finals will take place in Minehead. The main prize is C$865,000, and only the best 64 darts players worldwide will participate in this championship. The reigning champion, Michael van Gerwen who won the competition six times, will defend his title.
The Finals will be in the Best of 21 legs format, and we expect some cliffhanger action from the participants. If you’re planning to bet on this event, make sure you stay up-to-date with the Order of Merit qualifiers and analyze how the athletes perform this season.
Be aware: Darts is a precision sport, so even with the best strategy and analysis, the outcome can be drastically influenced by a few millimetres. Thus, remember that risk is always involved in darts betting. The athletes’ past performances do not guarantee their precision will be the same in upcoming games.
Horse Racing
The idea of betting on horses started over 400 years ago in the UK. Gamblers can wager on the final placement of the horses participating in a race. Most racing tracks work with a parimutuel betting system. The money wagered is pooled and equally shared with the winners.
However, online bookmakers have developed an alternative facility by making a market in odds. This way, you can “lock-in” odds on a horse at a given time( also known as “taking the price”).
If you’re interested in wagering on horse racing, here’s a list of the key events in 2021:
US Triple Crown
- May 1: 2021 Kentucky Derby
The 147th edition Kentucky Derby will take place as usual on the first Saturday of May, after a one-year break. If you’re a horse racing fan, you already know that this competition is a great betting opportunity that you shouldn’t miss out on.
The crowd-favourite horses are Life is Good, which is considered the fastest and Concert Tour, known for its impressive stamina. Still, the two horses have to fight for the first spot with Essential Quality, a more accomplished horse that currently has a price of 6-1 in Nevada’s futures.
- May 15: 2021 Preakness Stakes
The Preakness Stakes event is the middle jewel of the US Triple Crown, which will take place at the Pimlico Race Course in Maryland. The winner will receive the prestigious Woodlawn Vase, initially designed by Tiffany and Company in 1860, and a blanket made from the Black-Eyed Susan flowers.
Canadian punters can choose between two types of bets – straight (Win, Place, Show) and exotic (Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta). Among the participants, expect to find high-performance horses like Excession, Mr. Big News or Art Collector. Check out the official Kentucky Derby site for the complete list of contenders at the Preakness Stakes.
- June 5: 2021 Belmont Stakes
Named after August Belmont Sr., the 19th-century banker and horse racing legend, the Belmont Stakes is a Grade I stakes race for three-year-old Thoroughbreds. The event takes place at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.
The winner of the third jewel of the Triple Crown series will be draped in a blanket of about 700 white carnation flowers, in addition to the August Belmont Memorial Cup made by Tiffany & Co. The lineup has not been announced, but tickets can be purchased on the Belmont Stakes official website.
Breeder’s Cup
- Nov 5-6: 2021 Breeder’s Cup
The 2021 edition of the Breeder’s Cup World Championship is headed to Del Mar, the iconic racing venue from San Diego.
Efficient safety regulations have become the organizer’s main priority, and protocols have been implemented to allow attendance. Still, the ticket sales have been delayed until they have greater clarity regarding the restrictions.
Recommendation: One of the main advantages of betting on horse racing is the variety of bets available, so spend some time learning all the different combinations for maximum efficiency.
Lacrosse
Lacrosse has been played in Canada since the 17th century. Between 1859 and 1994, it was the only official national sport of the country. In a nutshell, Lacrosse is a team sport where players have to catch, pass and carry a rubber ball using sticks with a netted pouch.
The goal in Lacrosse is to score points by shooting the ball in the opponent’s goal. Modern Lacrosse has four different versions: men’s field lacrosse, women’s field lacrosse, box and inter-crosse. The rules and fields are slightly different between each variant. There is also a version of the game that is played on horseback, called polocrosse.
The lacrosse betting market is still in development, so it is not too common on online betting sites. Here are three crucial lacrosse events of 2021 that are worth adding to your calendar:
- March 13-14: Spring Madness Play Day Events
- July 13 – 15: US Lacrosse Youth Nationals
- May 29 – 30: Women’s National Tournament
Fun fact: Lacrosse was created when the European settlers observed the First Nations Canadian indigenous people playing the game. The indigenous people were playing it as a way to show their gratitude to the Great Spirit of Creation.
Curling
Curling is a sport that defines Canada’s cultural identity. Initially invented in Scotland, curling is now part of the sports at the Winter Olympics. Canada has been racking up lots of medals throughout the years. In fact, the Canadians hold 53 total world championships.
The sport’s rising popularity has made betting on curling more advanced. Based on an analysis of the past market data, the Canadian men curling team enters most of the tournament as clear favourites. Yet, their odds will be +100 (which means they’ve become underdogs) just a few weeks after the competition has begun.
Here are the most critical curling events of 2021 that you should keep an eye on:
- March 18-25: 2021 Home Hardware Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
- April 2-11: World Men’s Curling Championship
- November 7-14: 2021 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship
- November 20-28: 2021 Tim Hortons Curling Trials
- November 28 – December 4: 2021 Everest Canadian Club Championships
Recommendation: In curling, the captain is the most important player since he is responsible for deciding the throws’ direction and will perform the final two throws in each end. Thus, you can simplify your statistical analysis and focus on the historical performance of the team’s captain.
Archery
Archery dates back from 10000 B.C., and it used to be one of the primary methods of hunting or defeating enemies. Throughout the years, archery has become a form of entertainment and then a sport. The British are responsible for making archery an Olympic Games. The first appearance of archery at the Olympics was in 1900 in Paris, and only women could participate.
Winning in archery requires a combination of accuracy, focus, repetition and stress resistance. Now, as a bettor, you will want to expand your knowledge about the arrows used in competition and know the advantages and weaknesses of each player. This way, you will be able to make more informed decisions in your archery betting journey.
Check out the list of all important 2021 archery events that you can bet on:
World Archery Federation (WA)
The WA organizes the World Archery Championships, a series of annual archery competitions that include three different challenges:
- Outdoor World Championships in target archery;
- Indoor World Championships in target archery;
- World Championships in field archery.
While all the events are equally important in the archery community, the general audience only knows about the outdoor target archery event. The winners of this competition are referred to as “world champions.”
For those that are new to the world of archery betting, you need to know that the WA events are the most important of the year. If you’re planning to place wagers on archery, make sure you spend some time analyzing the players’ past performances and which shooting style fits them best.
Check out this year’s most important World Archery Federation events:
- September 16-26: 2021 World Archery Championships
- October 4-10: 2021 World Youth Archery Championships
2021 Archery World Cup
The Archery World Cup started in 2006, and it is comprised of four stages, each taking place in a different country. The competition was first introduced to make archery more popular and less complicated for the general audience.
Betting on the Archery World Cup is a great idea since the participants are the top players globally. It could be hard to predict the outcome without great knowledge of archery. Still, you can achieve your income goals by learning the industry’s ins and outs before wagering.
The first three locations for the World Cup have already been announced:
- April 19-25: WC#1 in Guatemala City
- May 17 – 23: WC#2 in Shanghai
- June 22 – 27: WC#3 in Paris
Tips: Archers are generally judged by their consistency. For instance, if two athletes shoot a score of 21 with three arrows, you should check the individual scores: a 7-7-7 archer is considered better than one with 10-5-6 because the archer is less likely to have a weak shot.
Fun fact: The World Archery Federation initially required to recurve bows, but since 1995 they changed the rule to compound bows.
Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of 11 players on a field with a 20-meter pitch in the middle, with a wicket at each end. The wickets contain two bails which are balanced on three stumps.
Originally created in England during the 18th century, cricket is considered one of the oldest sports in the book. If you’re a die-hard fan and want to wager on cricket, we have some good news!
Since online bookmakers have become the norm, the modern cricket version is not limited by the standard formats and betting options available. From match betting to Top Bowler or Batsman and Innings runs, there are many wagers that you can place on cricket games, which make the game one of the most versatile betting options out there.
Here is the complete list of cricket events of 2021 that you shouldn’t miss out on:

Recommendation: If you’re new to the world of cricket, take some time to familiarize yourself with the rules. Ideally, you will want to wager small amounts on simple bets and gradually increase the amount and complexity once you’ve honed your skills.
Golf
For many Canadians, golf could seem like a complicated sport. We disagree.
Golf is an individual sport that involves hitting a ball with a club into a hole. The player’s goal is to get the ball into the hole with the least number of swings and strokes possible. Golf is played on a course, which generally consists of 18 holes.
When it comes to betting on golf, you have a wide range of choices to make, including futures bets, head-to-head bets, versus the field bets and winning bets. Some of these bets are more complicated than others. The main differentiating point is that you can analyze data to make predictions for some of the wagers. In contrast, other bets are pure gambling and only involve luck.
These are the most crucial golf events that you can bet on this year:
Major Championships
- April 8-11: The Masters
- May 20-23: PGA Championship
- June 17-20: U.S. Open
- July 15-18: The Open Championship
World Golf Championships
- March 24-28: WGC- Dell Technologies Match Play
- August 5-8: WGC- FedEx St. Jude Invitational
- October 28-31: WGC-HSBC Champions
Recommendation: Golf is a highly volatile betting market. If you have no prior experience, we suggest avoiding parlay bets (multiple bets on one ticket). Instead, try maximizing your odds by placing a bet on a single event that you’ve spent some time analyzing.
eSports
The eSports betting market is one of the fastest-growing industries, worth close to C$1 billion in annual revenue. Judging by recent statistics, it is growing even more than the eSports market itself.
If case you’re not familiar with the term eSports, it is short for electronic sports. It refers to online video games that are played competitively, similar to regular sports. eSports competitions like the League of Legends Worlds or CS: GO Majors attract millions of viewers on Twitch and gigantic live audiences on the stadium.
If you want to learn more about the upcoming eSports competitions in 2021, check out the list.
CS: GO
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released in 2012 and became one of the most popular online video games worldwide. Millions play the FPS competitive video game. There are many championships where the best professional teams compete against each other for the first prize.
As an esports bettor, wagering on CS: GO can bring you many quick and easy wins, especially if you pay close attention to the team’s performance throughout the year. The betting procedure is similar to regular sports, so you won’t have an issue placing bets as long as you know the basics.
Here are the most important CS: GO events of the year:
- March 9 – April 18: 2021 ESL Pro League 13
- April 12 – 18: 2021 Blast Premier Spring Showdown
The A-Tier Premier Spring Showdown is an exciting offline championship hosted by Blast. The location hasn’t been announced yet, but we know that the total prize pool is set to $162,500. The playoffs have a single-elimination bracket BO3 (best of 3) format. The top two teams will qualify to the Spring Finals for the ultimate CS: GO clash.
The Blast Showdown is the ideal event for CS: GO bettors since most of the teams that qualified are top-tier, and the odds will be made accordingly. You will find G2 Esports, Astralis, G2 Esports, Team Liquid and Team Vitality among the participants.
Ready for action?

Sixteen teams will compete in the Dreamhack Masters’ Spring for the C$250,000 prize pool. The tournament format is double elimination brackets, where two groups of 8 teams each will clash in BO3 (Best of 3) matches.
The top 3 teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The quarter-finals will be played on May 2, and the semi-finals and grand finals between May 8 and 9. Out of the 16 participants, 6 of them have already been announced, including paiN Gaming, Heroic, Complexity Gaming, VOYVODA and Extra Salt. Check out the full details on Dreamhack’s official site.
- June 15 – 20: BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021

FIFA
FIFA is a top-rated game, especially on console. Since the game is structured similarly to real-life soccer, the players who rank in the highest position can participate in FIFA competitions.
That’s excellent news for those who enjoy both video games and soccer since you can now bet on FIFA eSports and win just as much as you would in regular soccer betting.
For now, only one major FIFA event has been announced:

League of Legends is the game with the most prominent player base. The MOBA(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) was released 13 years ago. Since then, it has become more than a video game – it is a worldwide phenomenon, gathering millions of fans that love playing or watching professional level gameplay.
Recently, the League of Legends community demanded the possibility to bet on the year’s major events, especially those organized by the LCS (LoL Championship Series). Bookmakers have listened to their demands, and they have implemented the option to wager on LoL championships, such as:
- March 19 – April 10: LCS Mid- Season Cup
- June 3 – August 1: LCS 2021 Summer
- August 6-28: LCS 2021 Championship
Recommendation: If you want to be successful with eSports betting, spend some time playing the game you want to wager on. It will offer you access to insights that will help you make more informed decisions.
Tips: Twitch.tv is a free streaming service for eSports where you can watch and learn more about the game from the pros themselves.
